Sonya is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor, and has a B.A. in English and History from the University of Western Ontario.
Sonya founded the law firm RGR LLP in 2003 with two other partners, Eboue Reinbergs and Stefan Guttensohn. Since its inception, RGR LLP has been devoted to serving clients who work in the entertainment and media industries.
Though her practice, Sonya has provided legal counsel for many productions, such as the NFB documentary short "Hardwood", and the Mirvish produced "da Kink in my Hair", which is now being developed into a weekly television series.

Additionally, Sonya is the Associate Producer of a children's fantasy feature film entitled "Shadowland", which is currently in post-production.
Sonya is also acting as Associate Producer for the feature film "Making Room for Lily", which is currently in development with the producing-directing team of Erin Faith Young and Tonya Lee Williams.
